Kenesset Israel Torah Center Welcomes Rabbi Joel Zeff
Kenesset Israel Torah Center is excited to welcome Rabbi Joel Zeff as its interim Rabbi beginning May 1.
Rabbi Zeff is no stranger to Sacramento, having grown up here in a family very involved in the local Jewish community. He holds a BA in Hebrew Language from UCLA , an MS in Jewish History from Yeshiva University, and received Rabbinic Ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. He served as the spiritual leader of the Westwood Kehilla Congregation in Los Angeles for seven years before moving to Israel in 1994. Under his guidance, the Westwood Kehilla became one of the most successful outreach-oriented synagogues in the Western United States. For the first decade after making aliya he was Senior Lecturer at the David Shapell College of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem.
Most recently, Rabbi Zeff served as Dean of Yeshivat Hamivtar, Ohr Torah Stone Institutions, in Israel. Rabbi Zeff is internationally known as a particularly dynamic and edifying teacher and speaker. We at Kenesset Israel Torah Center are truly excited and proud that Rabbi Zeff will be serving as our rabbi and as a marvelous Jewish resource for the entire Sacramento area.
